The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is committed to collaborating with federal and state agencies to combat crime and enhance public safety in our region. We are proud to be a member agency of several task forces that target specific threats and investigations.

Our Partnerships

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI):

  • Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force: We actively participate in the ICAC Task Force, working to investigate and prosecute individuals who exploit children online. Our detectives receive specialized training in online undercover operations, forensic analysis of digital evidence, and victim identification and support.
  • FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force
  • Other FBI Task Forces: We collaborate with the FBI on a range of investigations, including violent crime, organized crime, and terrorism.

United States Marshals Service (USMS):

  • We assist the USMS in apprehending fugitives, serving warrants, and providing security for federal courts and judicial proceedings.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF):

  • We work with the ATF to investigate and prosecute firearms offenses, explosives violations, and arson cases.

Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force (SRDVCTF):

  • As a member of the SRDVCTF, we collaborate with other law enforcement agencies in Southern West Virginia to combat drug trafficking, violent crime, and other criminal activity.
