The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Home Incarceration Program offers a monitored, supervised alternative to traditional incarceration for eligible individuals. Our program combines technology, case management, and community support to promote successful reintegration and rehabilitation.

Who is Eligible for Home Incarceration?

The Home Incarceration Program is available for individuals who:

  • Pretrial Defendants: Awaiting trial and have been granted home confinement as a condition of their bond.
  • Post-Conviction Offenders: Sentenced to serve a portion of their sentence on home confinement.
  • Magistrate Court Cases: Facing misdemeanor charges or lower-level offenses.
  • Circuit Court Cases: Facing felony charges or more serious offenses.
  • Out-of-County Cases: Ordered to home confinement in Mercer County by a court outside the County.
  • Drug Court Participants: Participating in the Mercer County Drug Court program.
  • Individuals Requiring Alcohol Monitoring: Ordered by the court or a probation officer to undergo alcohol monitoring.
  • Juveniles: Ordered by the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) or Juvenile Probation to participate in home confinement.

How Does Home Incarceration Work?

Our program utilizes ShadowTrack, a state-of-the-art electronic monitoring system, to track participants’ movements and ensure compliance with the terms of their confinement.

ShadowTrack Features

  • GPS Tracking: Real-time tracking of participant locations using GPS technology.
  • Curfew Enforcement: Setting and monitoring specific times when participants must be at their approved residence.
  • Exclusion Zones: Establishing geographical areas that participants are prohibited from entering.
  • Tamper Alerts: Immediate notification if a participant attempts to remove or disable the monitoring device.
  • Remote Alcohol Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of alcohol consumption for individuals ordered to abstain.

What happens if I violate the terms of my home incarceration?

Violating the terms of home incarceration can result in sanctions, including increased restrictions, program termination, or even revocation of home confinement and return to jail.

Can I visit someone on home confinement?

Visitors may be allowed with prior approval from the Home Confinement Division and must abide by all program rules.
