Over the last two weeks, our office has dedicated time for training for the entire department. Each Deputy has received training in firearms, defensive tactics, policy, traffic related updates, and other techniques for 40 hours. But it doesn’t stop there... Throughout the entire year we try to send Deputies to specialized training as funds allow – such as crash reconstruction, drone operator, drug interdiction, homicide investigation, and leadership courses just to name a few. We’d like to thank and show outward appreciation for all our Deputies for working extra long days over this time to ensure both 911 calls being answered and to increasing their skills!
LOST PROPERTY – OWNER SOUGHT Deputies recovered a Walmart package on Kegley School Road this morning, April 29, 2026. To claim the package, email [email protected] and identify the contents of the package. Once ownership is verified, instructions will be provided for property pickup.

Where is the Mercer County Sheriff's Office located?
We are located at the Mercer County Courthouse at 1501 East Main St., Princeton, WV 24740.
Where do I park when I arrive?
The Mercer County Courthouse has parking available on the street around the building.
What types of items are not allowed in the Courthouse?
Weapons, such as firearms, knives, tasers, etc., and drugs and drug paraphernalia are not permitted on Courthouse grounds.
Do I have to go through security to enter the Courthouse?
When entering the Courthouse, you will be asked to place any handbags, purses, totes, along with anything in your pockets into the scanner before walking through a metal detector.
How do I pay my personal property taxes?
Personal property taxes can be paid:
- Online at http://mercer.softwaresystems.com/index.html
- Mailing a check with your tax bill to the address on the bill.
- In person at:
