Over the past two weeks, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department has dedicated time to department-wide training, ensuring deputies continue to strengthen the skills they rely on while serving the community.
Each deputy completed 40 hours of training covering firearms, defensive tactics, department policy, traffic-related updates, and other law enforcement techniques.
Training and professional development continue throughout the year as funding allows. Deputies are also given opportunities to attend specialized courses in areas such as crash reconstruction, drone operation, drug interdiction, homicide investigation, and leadership.
Maintaining this level of training requires extra effort from the entire department. Deputies worked extended days during the training period to ensure that 911 calls and other calls for service continued to be answered while training requirements were completed.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department would like to recognize and thank its deputies for their dedication, long hours, and continued commitment to improving their skills while serving the citizens of Mercer County.
