PRESS RELEASE: On Saturday morning, September 14, 2024 the Bluefield Police Department and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office responded to the WVU Emergency Room in Bluefield regarding a subject that had been shot. Upon arrival, law enforcement was informed that the shooting occurred at Jay Jay’s Bar, located at 1188 Coal Heritage Road prior to 3:45 AM. The victim is a 37-year-old male. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and at the time of this press release, is in critical condition being medically treated. Currently names are not being released, as it is an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
